Scottish Winter

Our trips for the Scottish Winter season are well underway, and here are some photos from the most recent weekend. The team reported plenty of snow, and they had a great time learning a whole range of skills from bucket seat belays, to snow bollards and ice axe and crampon skills. The recent winter weather has been typically Scottish, but that didn’t dampen their spirits, and they had great mountain days. Many guests use the Scottish Winter courses as great preparation for an Alpine trip.

All of our Scottish Winter trips are based out of Fort William, and we base ourselves in a comfortable 3*** hotel, so you can dry kit out well each day, and it’s well equipped with WiFi throughout, and great food to power you through the days out on Ben Nevis. In the Scottish Winter season we offer Winter Skills weekends (click here), and Winter Intro Mountaineering weeks (click here), as well as Technical Ice weeks. The Scottish mountains are a magical place in the winter months, and they are a playground that provides some of the best mountain days in the world.

We have just six weeks left of our Scottish Winter season, and most trips are full now, though there is still some space in late February and early March. At the minute the Ben Nevis range is about to receive a battering from the remnants of the storm that affected the eastern seaboard of the USA, and there are Nevis windspeeds predicted to top 100mph in gusts (weather forecast). The longer range forecasts are indicating plenty more snow followed by cooler conditions, so it’s shaping up to be a great winter season. Get in touch if you would like to discuss plans…
